If you’ve got the travel bug, you may just have to add this on your list of things to do. Many people make the trip to Bend, Oregon just to participate in the Bend Ale Trail ™, a walking beer tour of all the local breweries. This particular beer tour is one of the largest – if not the largest – on the west coast.
The tour is comprised of 15 world-class breweries that just so happened to be clustered in walking distance of one another in this small mountain town. To begin on the marvelous beer journey that is known as the Bend Ale Trail ™, you’ll have to pick up a few items first: your Bend Ale Trail ™ Passport and trail map. These items are available at the Bend Visitor’s Center amongst many other locations. One passport is required per person that is participating.
Once you’ve got the atlas and most importantly, the passport, you’ll begin to make your way to each of the breweries. While visiting each one of the breweries, you can ask them to stamp your passport. No purchase is necessary to obtain the stamp, but it’s definitely good to sample some of their tap offerings while you’re there. There’s no time limit to completing the Bend Ale Trail ™, so you can tackle it all at once or spread it out during your stay. Once you’ve gotten stamps from 10 breweries, you can return the completed passport to Bend’s Visitor’s Center in person or by mail to receive your prize: a commemorative Silipint! If you visited all 15 breweries on the Ale Trail, you’ll receive a bonus bottle opener in addition to the Silipint. We are definitely up for the challenge next time we make the trip to Bend!
