Stone Brewing 20th Anniversary Brew – Citracado IPA
As you may have already heard, the company that has not only helped put San Diego on the craft beer map, but has been a large influence in the development of the industry here in Southern California is celebrating a very special anniversary this year. Twenty years ago Stone Brewing began their journey creating delicious craft brews. With countless brews that have made our tastebuds dance over the past two decades, it is no wonder Stone had to come up with yet another unique brew for this special year. Now that the time is here, Stone is ready to celebrate.
As a part of their 20th Anniversary celebration, Stone created a milestone brew that features: Nugget, El Dorado, Centennial and Citra hops. This creation is dubbed the Citracado IPA. The name of this unique brew pays homage to their flagship brewery, which is located on Citracado Parkway in Escondido, CA. This beer showcases their obsession with hops when brewing and the passion Stone has for challenging traditional styles. They have been changing peoples expectations of beer over the past two decades and this one is no different.
Citracado also relates to the two main ingredients of this particular brew – Citra hops and avacado flower honey. The combination of the two creates a floral, sweet, and citrusy profile with a hoppy twist –just like Stone likes it. This double IPA pours a coppery, amber color with a tan foam head. It has floral and citrus aromatics, which is reflected in the flavor. There are notes of grapefruit, pineapple, and sweet caramel malt entwined with hints of floral. It is full bodied with medium carbonation and ends with a dry finish.
The Citracado IPA contains 9% ABV, but goes down extremely smooth. It was released on August 8th and is fresh for 90 days! This beer is available in 22 & 3L oz. bottles as well as on draft. It definitely lives up to the Stone name and boy 20 never tasted so good. Use the hashtag #Stone20 with your Stone Citracado IPA to get social.
