SD Rhythm and Brews Festival a HIT!
It’s safe to say that beer and music are one of our favorite pairings. The San Diego Brewers Guild hosted their annual Rhythm & Brews Festival in Historic Downtown Vista Village on May 6th from 12 to 4 PM. Over 2,500 people gathered along the “Hops Highway” to celebrate the local craft beer community. Now in its sixth year, the festival saw an impressive 51% percent increase in total ticket sales over the previous year— in total 2,197 tickets were sold. Proceeds from the event benefitted the SDBG and the 501(c)3 non-profit Brazilian Institute for Arts & Culture.
Even though it ended up raining for the last few hours, the event was a total blast! The lines were never too long, the tunes were definitely worth rocking out to, and the beers were amazing! The 6th Annual SD Rhythm & Brews Festival featured over 50+ breweries with over 100+ unique beers!
Favorite Beers
With so many options it was difficult to pick our favorites! Here are a few that blew us away:
Mission Brewery | Mike’s Go Big Red IPA & Jeremy’s Simply Azacca! Two employees of Mission Brewery had the opportunity to brew their own recipes and then share them at the event! Both were on the top of our list of most enjoyable beers!
Bear Roots Brewing | Bear Cookie – Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout. This was our favorite beer of the event! Mocha, vanilla, peanut butter, chocolate, and a tad bit sweet, need we say more? This brewery is located in Vista, CA. With a beer this good on their tap list, it’s at the top of our list of breweries to make it to next! We recommend you add it to your list too.
Black Plague Brewing | 1347 IPA. We had a sneak peak of what is to come from the newest brewery set to open in Oceanside, CA soon, and we were very impressed. This IPA was smooth, delicious, and crushable. We can’t wait to see what else they brew up in the coming months!

Hoppy Beer Hoppy Life | It’s hard not to love anything that Hoppy Beer Hoppy Life puts out, especially if you love beer! Event goers were especially thankful for their stylish rain jackets on that rainy afternoon! With an assortment of apparel, hats, and accessories, you really can find something for any beer lover in your life.
Shirts on Tap | They produced the official merchandise for the 6th annual Rhythm & Brews festival. What made their booth cool and unique? They actually brought their shirt making machine to the event for people to see the process! It was really awesome to see these guys at work, and if you are looking for the coolest brewery shirt club in town, be sure to check them out!
Favorite Act
P.O.D. | (Payable on Death). This Grammy nominated, world-famous band got their start in San Diego, CA in 1992. With sales exceeding 10 million, hugely successful international tours, and a series of chart-topping radio hits, they are no longer a small local band. We were excited to hear them play their hits “Youth of the Nation” & “Alive”. Rocking out to their classic hits was the perfect way to end this amazing day filled with great beer and great people!
