Hoppy October! It’s pumpkin season and that’s always worth celebrating. Even though the weather doesn’t change drastically in San Diego from Summer to Fall, I can still count on the smell of freshly baked pumpkin bread to get me into the Fall spirit. I can say the same about the arrival of pumpkin beers to the local grocery store; a multitude of choices, all bursting with sweet pumpkin, bready malts, and Fall spices! I look forward to it every year.
This pumpkin beer bread is the perfect way to celebrate the harvest and bring some Fall into your home. The smell of pumpkin bread baking will fill you with childish memories and bring a little cheer into your home. Not to mention, you should definitely crack open a beer while the bread is in the oven!
You can use any of your favorite pumpkin beers. Each one will give a slightly different result. Personally, I like adding a sweet pumpkin ale like Dogfish Head Punkin Ale brewed with fresh pumpkins, but you can get really creative. I’ve even tried this recipe with Elysian Brewing’s Punkuccino and it turned out fantastic!
The great part about this pumpkin bread is I add the beer right to the mix, swapping in the beer when it calls for water or milk. It’s really that simple. You can get fancy and use your favorite homemade pumpkin bread recipe, or you can use the boxed kind — they will both turn out delicious. I just love being able to pop it in the oven at a moment’s notice. Cheers to FALL!
