Pints and Pups: Pub Dog in Colorado Springs

One drinking buddy, Jaxon
If you have a dog you know the feeling of happiness you get when you sit on a patio with a pint and your best pal. Here at Hoplight, most of us are dog parents, and we get the feeling! In this multi-part series, I will be highlighting some of the best dog-friendly places I have found to grab a pint with Finn, my Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog. While this series will start with Colorado Springs, we will branch out to other areas in Colorado as well. Grab your drinking buddy and head down to the first place on our journey, Pub Dog. Let me start by saying, Pub Dog is AWESOME. Finn and I come here at least once a week so he can run around and I can grab a beer… or two. We are lucky since it is only a 20-minute walk from our house.
The Vibe

Finn and his pals romping around in the play area
What makes Pub Dog unique is you get to actually dine with your dog, inside or outside. They are the first restaurant in the state of Colorado where dining inside with your pup is legal. Colorado Native and Owner, Tara Downs, has put a lot of effort into making Pub Dog shine and it shows. They have a good sized dog play area where you can let your pal run wild that has seating for humans. There is also an outdoor patio outside of the play area and a large indoor space with a full bar. They do not let kids under 16 in the free play area and you won’t have a server due to health code, but all in all, Pub Dog is one of the ultimate spots to drink a pint with your pup.

$2 Tacos and a Rockyard Slightly Sessionable Session IPA
The Food
With a menu of everything from shareable appetizers to assorted desserts, there is plenty to choose from for you and even a dog food menu for your pal. Pub Dog is family friendly and has a few options for the kiddos as well. I was there for Taco Tuesday where you can get $2 tacos in either pork, chicken, or jackfruit.
The Drinks
Not in the mood for a beer? They offer a full house cocktail menu with fun names like the Bloodhound, and Bark N’ Stormy. Tuesday they even do a $5 shot of tequila and a Tecate special. I love their beer list since they offer everything from ciders to Rolling Rock, and always seem to keep the Laughing Lab from local Bristol Brewing Company. They also have a rotating Guest Tap and gluten-free options. I had a Slightly Sessional Session IPA from Rockyard Brewing Company in Castle Rock, CO and a Cucumber Sour from 10 Barrel Brewing in Denver, CO.
