Our 2019 National IPA Day Picks
National IPA Day is celebrated on the first Thursday of August and has been since 2011. There are a bunch of ways you can celebrate National IPA Day like drinking an IPA from your local brewery, getting a flight of the IPAs from a brewery you’ve never been to, or just going on a beer run for your favorite IPA. For the third year in a row, we are sharing our teams National IPA Day picks!
Aryelle’s Pick – Sunshine City IPA from Green Bench Brewing Co.
I’ll admit an IPA is usually not my first beer style of choice but the bright orange of the Sunshine City can caught my eye on the shelves and I’m glad it did. There is a balance between the hop and fruit flavors. It’s double dry-hopped with equal parts of Mosaic, Citra and Azacca hops, for an intensely tropical profile. This beer is perfect for National IPA Day because it is the perfect summer beer, refreshing and drinkable!
Averee’s Pick – Lush Puppy from Bootstrap Brewing Company
With a tropical and citrusy rush of aroma and flavor, Lush Puppy by Bootstrap Brewing Company is one of the most refreshing Juicy IPAs I will be enjoying on National IPA Day. This gluten-reduced IPA comes in at 6.3% ABV, 40 IBU and is an awesome example of a crushable (almost too crushable) IPA coming out of Boulder, CO. Cheers to all you Hop Heads out there – today is our day!
Kristina’s Pick – Coco Flamingo from Wild Leap Brew Co. & TrimTab Brewing
The first Collaboration between Wild Leap and TrimTab Brewing does not disappoint. Brewed with both Sabro and Lotus hops, this tropical double IPA gives off flavors of Coconut, Tangerine, and Lime. These refreshing flavors are perfect for summer while still coming in at an 8% ABV. It’s an amazing combo for a double IPA. I will be enjoying this for National IPA Day while daydreaming of being on a tropical island!
William’s Pick – Boat Shoes Hazy IPA from Karl Strauss Brewing Company
Do you like to go to the beach, pool or to be surrounded by any kind of water? Do you enjoy Hazy India Pale Ales? This beer is for you if you answered yes! This beer gives off flavors of citrus and sweet fruit and has a juicy finish. It’s unfiltered and hopped with Pacifica, Simcoe, Mosaic, Pekko, and Galaxy hops. Though I can’t be by the water today for National IPA Day, this beer will help bring me there at least in my mind!
