Green Flash Brewing Teams Up With Jameson for Drinking Buddies Program

Whiskey + Craft Beer. It’s difficult to find a better pairing, especially when said whiskey is Jameson Irish Whiskey and said beer is brewed by Green Flash Brewing.  Green Flash will release limited batches of Golden God throughout the month of October.  Golden God, a new barrel-aged collaboration beer was developed as part of Jameson’s Drinking Buddies Program.

The craft beer scene is not new to unique partnerships. Craft breweries have partnered with everyone from musicians, to restaurants and museums. What makes the Drinking Buddies Program unique is the melding of two very different drinks and origins. Bringing together the history, flavors and traditions of a 200 year old whiskey and the equally inventive, contemporary craft beer style results in a special partnership. Jameson’s Drinking Buddies Program features 16 craft breweries from around the country. Green Flash is their exclusive craft brewery partner in Southern California. The driving force behind the program is to bring together whiskey and beer into a harmonious craft beer. All of the participating breweries came together this past weekend at the Jameson Love Thy Neighborhood Brewery Fest in New York. Green Flash represented San Diego with flying colors!

Golden God

Produced in the Green Flash Cellar 3 facility, Golden God is a Blonde Ale brewed with Irish Ale yeast, then aged in Jameson whiskey barrels for 3 months.  As a result of maturing in a barrel for 3 months, the Golden God has allowed the barrel-drawn flavors to dominate the profile. Overall, this beer draws inspiration from and complements the unique flavors found in Jameson. Golden God also pairs perfectly with a snifter of Jameson Caskmates.

Green Flash Barrelmaster, Pat Korn developed the recipe for the unique beer. “We set out to create a beer that distinctively reflects the character of Jameson Caskmates,” says Korn. “The resulting flavor offers a combination of Fiji Apple, whiskey, mint, honey, and guava with a sweet yet dry malt finish.”

You can find Golden God at special events in bars and restaurants throughout Southern and Central California. Golden God will be on draft only at select locations around San Diego including: OB Noodle House, The Holding Company, Sunshine Company, The Rabbit Hole, Effins Pub, Tavern at the Beach, True North Tavern, The Ould Sod, and Urge Gastropub.
