Exclusive Sneak Peek: Upcoming Stone Brewing Collaboration with Fat Mike of NOFX
We’re so excited to share that Stone Brewing just announced a collaboration with NOFX‘s lead vocalist and bassist, Mike Burkett. To his fans and the rest of the music world, he’s commonly known as Fat Mike. This collaboration came to fruition when Cameron Collins, Co-Founder & Director of Events at Brew Ha Ha Productions, suggested that Mike work with Stone Brewing on a special beer to promote his upcoming Punk in Drublic Festival. The festival takes place in September and the beer’s release will definitely help promote it.
Q&A with Stone CEO Dominic Engels, Stone’s brewers and Fat Mike of NOFX
The day started off with a quick Q&A session with Stone CEO Dominic Engels, the brewers, and of course, Fat Mike of NOFX. Mike took this opportunity to announce their upcoming Punk in Drublic Festival in partnership with Brew Ha Ha. The festival will only have five stops including: one in Idaho, one in Washington, and three in California. For further details about the event, please check out their website. Tickets for the event will go on sale soon so be on the lookout. The best part of the festival? There will be 40-50 breweries serving up to 100 different taps at each festival and festival attendees will have the opportunity to try this one of a kind collaboration on draft.
Fun Fact: We learned during the Q&A that Mike isn’t new to the beer scene. During the 90’s, Mike home brewed a stout, though according to him, it wasn’t all too delicious. That said, there’s no doubt this collaboration with Stone will be delicious. He shared with us a little bit about his background in beer including his experience previously home brewing back in the 90s. During this home-brewing experience, he made a stout. According to him, it wasn’t all too delicious. However, there’s no doubt that this collaboration with Stone will be absolutely delicious.
Brew Day at Stone
The Q&A session was followed by a brewery tour and watching Fat Mike pouring of hops into the tank to start the brewing process for this epic collaboration beer. Drublic Hoppy Lager will have 5.8% ABV and will be available in 12oz 6-pack cans.
The Stone brewers walked us through the brewing process and what’s to follow after this first portion of the brewing process. Needless to say, it’s quite exciting to get an exclusive look at where the magic happens at Stone Brewing. Seeing the whole brew process happens adds additional excitement to try the final product. We can’t wait to get our hands on the cans! Check out our photo album from this awesome sneak peak HERE.
