DOG HAUS BRINGS THE ABSOLUTE WÜRST TO SAN DIEGO STARTING 10/21
Want a free, delicious hot dog to go with your beer on Friday, October 21st?
To commemorate its arrival, the new Dog Haus Biergarten San Diego owners Laura Zhang and Kelvin Cui are inviting locals to swing by the Haus for a free hot dog on Opening Day.
Opening Day specials invite the community in to be part of the fun and give back to causes that touch the heart of the Dog Haus team. Here’s how San Diegans can get in on the action on Friday, Oct. 21 from 11am to 10pm.
- Free Haus Dog* for everyone that donates $3 to the Monarch School, a non-profit K-12 comprehensive school designed to educate homeless youth.
- Free Haus Dog for Police, Firefighters, EMTs and Military in Uniform
- Yelpers can enjoy a free Haus Dog* with their Yelp Check-in
In addition to raising funds for the Monarch School on Friday, October 21st, Dog Haus Biergarten San Diego will be donating 10% of their sales from Saturday, October 22nd through Saturday, October 29th to San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation, which provides support to San Diego’s first responders to better protect the citizens and property of San Diego and the surrounding region from the ravages of fire, natural disasters, and unforeseen injuries and illness.
“We know San Diego is going to love Dog Haus,” said co-owner Zhang. “We’ve invested in a solid footprint in San Diego’s vibrant downtown and will be bringing Dog Haus Biergarten, which will have 30 craft beers on tap, a craveable menu and a welcoming, signature style. Our vision is to serve as a gathering place for locals and visitors. We can’t wait to celebrate with San Diego!”
San Diego’s dining and craft beer scene just got hotter! Haus’ hot dog creations feature signature all beef skinless dogs served up on grilled Hawaiian rolls. Fan favorites include Sooo Cali, with wild arugula, tomato, crispy onions, spicy basil aioli and avocado; Downtown Dog, featuring a smoked bacon wrapped dog topped with caramelized onions, pickled peppers, mayo, mustard and ketchup; and Cowboy, with white American cheese, smoked bacon, bbq sauce and crispy onions. The location’s craft beer offerings will range from local favorites to national and international brews. Guests can enjoy their cans served up in Dog Haus koozies, a nod to backyard BBQs; or, alternatively, all those with a classic PBR craving can get their lager fix with a brown paper bag wrapped can.
Dog Haus’ full menu also includes gourmet, sausages, burgers, corn dogs, sides, shakes and beer. Other Haus items include The Fonz, which partners a spicy Italian sausage with pastrami and melted mozzarella; while Das Brat features a bratwurst with caramelized onions, sauerkraut and whole grain mustard aioli. Haus Burgers run the gamut from the trademarked The Freiburger®, with white American cheese, a fried egg, haus slaw, fries and mayo; to Holy Aioli, with white American cheese, caramelized onions, smoked bacon and garlic aioli.
Lighter eaters and kids can indulge in smaller-sized portions – the dog slider is made with a signature all beef skinless mini dog, haus made cheese sauce and bacon; the burger slider has just the right amount of caramelized onions, white American cheese and mayo; while the corn dog slider features a signature all beef skinless mini dog dipped in haus made root beer batter. Equal attention is paid to the quality-driven sides, like chili cheese tots or fries with haus made cheese sauce, cheddar cheese, haus chili and green onions; beer-battered onion rings; and sweet potato fries. Save room for dessert and finish off the meal with a Fosselman’s premium ice cream soft serve.
The fast-casual concept, designed to elevate the nostalgic experience of eating that quintessential hot dog or burger, combines this nostalgia with the contemporary aesthetic of its modern industrial space. After ordering at the counter, diners can grab a barstool at the communal tables with exposed I-beams or claim a seat at one of the reclaimed wood and steel tables with benches that boast playful phrases, such as “Nice Buns,” throughout the restaurant. The 4,030 square-foot restaurant is the perfect setting to watch your favorite team play on any of the flat screen TVs or step outside and enjoy your dog on the patio tables.
“As an entrepreneur, there’s not much better than bringing something new to a city,” said co-owner Cui. “I can’t wait to see how the community embraces Dog Haus. We have dedicated more than two years to the planning and site selection for this milestone opening in southern California. We wanted to open with the right timing and location and we’re now officially ready to welcome San Diego to meet Dog Haus Biergarten!”
The new restaurant, located at 969 Ninth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101 will be open for lunch, happy hour and dinner!
