Cutwater Spirits Officially Opened in Miramar

Cutwater Spirits has officially opened their distillery and restaurant in the Miramar area. The beauty of the building is a sight to see in and of itself, but it wasn’t the only thing that blew us away. Other highlights include: the quality of the food, the delicious tasting and variety of drinks, as well as the amazing people that work there!

Background

Cutwater Spirits was founded by the same masterminds behind Ballast Point Brewing. Even though these founders decided to sell the beer side of their business, they retained the rights to their spirits line. Jack White, Yuseff Cherney and Jim Buechler have now reimagined what was formally the Ballast Point Spirits line into Cutwater Spirits.

Spirits & Cocktails

They offer flights of their classic spirit lines, canned cocktails, and a variety of mixed drinks. Our favorite mixed drink of the evening was definitely their PLUTO? made with their Old Grove Gin, passionfruit, Don’s Spices, pineapple, lime, & Peychaud Bitters. It transported us to a tropical paradise with this one! Our second favorite mixed drink of the evening was their WEEKEND AT BURNIES made with their Fugu Habanero Vodka, Three Sheets Spiced Rum, passionfruit, lime, & cinnamon. This drink was the perfect marriage between sweet and spicy!

People

We all know that success is no longer just a result of producing quality products, it’s about creating an experience by hiring the best people. Cutwater Spirits staff did not disappoint. Everyone working that evening was friendly and eager to help in any way possible. Special thank you to our bartenders Laura & Blaire for helping educate us on their drinks and letting us take a ton of photos!

Food

We had their SALMON with crispy shallots, spinach, toasted couscous, & lemon sauce. It is one of the best salmon dishes we’ve had in a long time. The salmon was flaky (as it should be) and just melt in your mouth. We also really enjoyed the ASPARAGUS with oyster mushrooms & blood orange hollandaise.

Hours

Cutwater Spirits is open for lunch and dinner Monday-Sunday from 11am to 11pm. Seating is first come, first served.

Tours

Cutwater Spirits offers a complimentary tour of their 30,000ft production facility on the hour from 12pm to 7pm. Guests can sign up for a tour in the retail shop – spots are limited. We haven’t had the opportunity to go on the tour yet, but everyone we talked to raved about what an amazing experience it is. It’s absolutely on our list of things to go back for very soon!
