Ballast Point Releases Made in San Diego Ale
Ballast Point Brewing Company released its new Made in San Diego Ale yesterday at one of the most iconic San Diego places, Petco Park. Made in San Diego Ale is a San Diego exclusive offering. You will not find this beer outside of San Diego County. Why did Ballast decide to make this Golden Ale so exclusive? Simple, they wanted to pay tribute to the community that originally backed a humble home brewer’s dream and has supported the brewery for more than 20 years.
Giving Back to San Diego
In partnership with San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Ballast Point is donating 50 cents for every case sold back to the EDC Entrepreneurship Fund. Donations are made in hopes of helping small businesses grow, just as San Diego helped this once small, local brewery. Ballast maintains they are still focused on the relationship between San Diego’s commerce.
“As a brewery that has called San Diego home for over two decades, we couldn’t be more excited about this announcement,” said Marty Birkel, president of Ballast Point Brewing Company. “This community has embraced us from a small home brew supply shop to a globally distributed brewery, and we want to honor our hometown supporters while empowering other local business owners to pursue their passion – just like Ballast Point did.”
In 2017, Ballast Point generated a $234 million economic impact on San Diego. And every job they create in San Diego (so far there are almost 375 of them who work there locally) creates an additional 1.9 jobs in the local community.
