Atlanta Summer Wine Festival is Perfect for Wine & Beer Lovers!
If you did not attend the Atlanta Summer Wine Festival this past Saturday, you missed out! The event was held at City Winery – Atlanta on Saturday, August 11th and had two different sessions with 1,000+ people each session. City Winery was the perfect location for the event because it has everything you could want including: an outdoor patio, indoor dining area, downstairs ballroom and even a speakeasy. Don’t let the name fool you, the Atlanta Summer Wine Festival didn’t just have wine. It also had some great beer choices from our friends at Second Self Beer Co., Eventide Brewing, and Scofflaw Brewing Co.!
Favorite Wine & Beers
The sampling cup was a plastic clear wine cup that looked as though it was made of glass, making the tasting experience feel more upscale. Here are some of our favorites from the evening:
Beringer Bros. Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon | This wine was different from the rest as it was barrel aged, but not overwhelming and extremely well balanced. It had a smooth mouthfeel and left a really great taste in your mouth. We could have drunk this wine all evening and been happy. It will definitely be one we look for to enjoy again in the future.
Villa Antinori Bianco 2016 | The nose was delicate and elegant with notes of bananas, pineapples, white flowers, and candied fruit. This Italian wine was extremely refreshing and one of our favorite white wines from the evening!
POG Basement from Scofflaw | This fruity and refreshing IPA is something we just can’t seem to get enough of! We were thrilled when we saw it on the list of beers that Scofflaw was pouring at the event!
Margarita In Gose from Second Self Beer Co. | Refreshing and slightly tart, this Gose is one of our favorites! It reminds you of sipping on a Margarita, and what could be better than that?
Peaches En Regalia from TreeHorn Cider | Pairing the fragrant sweetness of peaches with the balanced acidity and tartness of apple was the perfect combination! It had our tastebuds dancing in delight and was something we kept going back for more of! This cider is perfect for summer nights in Atlanta!
Favorite Moments
The Music | The music made the event a place anyone could enjoy. While the music options were different for each session of the event, for the second session we attended there was DJ Q-Tip downstairs, spinning some amazing music and creating more of a club vibe. Upstairs and inside, you found Sucker Punch band, an alternative rock cover band. Outside on the patio was an incredible musician, Michael Magno. These options were diverse enough to please any crowd.

The Volunteers | They took the time to be knowledgable about all the things they were pouring and were able to make thoughtful recommendations! As people who don’t drink wine that often, we really appreciated this! We were able to find some hidden gems as a result!
The Photobooth | They placed the photobooth in front of a really cool backdrop of wine bottles, making it the perfect place to snag a photo with friends & take home a memory from a great night!
This event is the perfect event for beer lovers to expand their horizons and try some new wines, but still, have some local beer favorites to fall back on. We would highly recommend it, and we will be counting down the days until next year! We will also be bringing friends! Check out some more of our photos by visiting our Facebook Album HERE.
