6 Craft Beer-Styled Cocktails to Try This Summer!

It’s summer time, which also means a it’s grab-a-cold-craft-beer-at-anytime-of-day season. If you don’t want to stray too far from your craft beer, but want to try something new.. we recommend you try to mix it up a bit with some craft beer cocktails! This is a fun way to mix it up and the best part is that many of these ingredients are likely found hanging out in your fridge/freezer!

The ones we’ve chosen here for you are pretty easy with most having 3 ingredients or less! These recipes are there for you to follow, but if you want to heat things up a bit please feel free to get a little crafty even if that means adding more alcohol than suggested 😉 !

Let’s start with some simple ones:

Boilermaker– 1 part whiskey and 1 part beer

Alesmith-X1We suggest that you stick with a lighter beer in this case because Alesmith-Wee-Heavywhiskey is considered a heavy alcohol. You can try a darker beer as well if you would prefer. We suggest Alesmith’s Extra Pale Ale as a lighter beer option, and if you want it to be heavier you can try using Alesmith’s Wee Heavy Scotch Ale. The lighter craft beer will help lighten up the whiskey, which naturally gives this cocktail an extra kick. To be safe we suggest 2oz of whiskey and 6oz of beer. If you experiment with a variety of whiskeys out there, we are sure you will find your perfect concoction!

Black Velvet– 1 part stout and 1 part sparkling wine or champagne

For this pair, we suggest picking your favorite light sparkling wine or champagne and pairing it with a fun stout like Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout. There are many different tasty stouts to experiment with this one! Try 4oz of each first and then you can adjust from there!

Snake Bite– 1 part lager and 1 part hard cider

This one is a bit on the lighter side. For the lovers of hard cider this could be a good way for you to transition into more craft beer. It could also be a good way to spice things up if you’re tired of just craft beer. We suggest Ballast Point Longfin Lager and your choice of hard cider. This craft beer cocktail is great with either a fruity cider or sticking with an original. We suggest mixing 4oz of each and you can add more of either if you feel the need.

Adult Root Beer Float– 1 12oz bottle of adult root beer and 1 or 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream

There are more and more options these days when it comes to hard root beer, but we suggest Mission Brewery Hard Root Beer. This one is not overly sweet, which is a good thing in our opinion since vanilla ice cream itself will add to the sweetness. So grab a spoon and dig in!
