10 Barrel Brewing Announces Anchorman Beer Series

Great Oden’s Raven! Anchorman Beer is here! East Village’s 10 Barrel Brewing is debuting a new series of beers this fall and winter – all based on San Diego’s own “Anchorman”. San Diego breweries have named beers after songs – Bay City‘s Jucci Gang, fish – Ballast Point‘s Sculpin, inanimate best friends – Kilowatt‘s Wilson The Coconut, but this new series of beers are a bit different. 10 Barrel’s unique beers are not simply named after Anchorman but inspired by them as well. The unique Anchorman beer series is kicking off with a house-brewed session IPA, “Afternoon Delight“. 10 Barrel will continue with a rotating selection of their Anchorman beers that will hit taps in the coming months. It’s obvious these beers are inspired by a hilariously classic “San Diego” based movie but there is an underlying seasonal inspiration as well. Starting light and making their way through dark IPA’s and malty flavors, 10 Barrel is welcoming winter and fall with class.

It Always Goes Down Smooth

  • Afternoon Delight (ABV 4.7%): Love this beer and hold it tight! The first beer in the San Diego series, Afternoon Delight is perfect for a midday treat. This session IPA is brewed with Idaho Gem, Comet and an experimental hop.   
  • Sex Panther: Debuting later this fall, the Sex Panther is pungent – in all the right ways. The black IPA will be a unique twist on San Diego’s favorite style of beer.   
  • Rich Mahogany: Perfect to sip alongside your leather-bound books, Rich Mahogany is a unique session IPA. This beer will make its debut at the pub just in time for winter. 
  • Scotch Ale: We love scotch. Scotchy scotch scotch! This Scottish ale will go down your belly with a roasted caramel flavor and light spice. Scotch Ale is made for cozy fall evenings on the pubs’ rooftop and will be ready for sipping later this fall.    

Ben Shirley, the man pictured in the Ron Burgundy costume also brewed all the Anchorman beers listed above. Ben recently received a highly coveted brewmaster award at the San Diego International Beer Competition. Congrats Ben!
